Kurdish women, female members of the "Popular Protection Units" (YPG), sit inside a house in the majority-Kurdish Sheikh Maksoud district that they patrol and protect as clashes continue after Syrian opposition fighters entered into the Kurdish area forcing thousands of civilians to flee into safe areas outside of Aleppo City. Since then, the neighborhood is being bombed and shelled by Syrian forces in its attempt to sweep out the opposition fighters from the area.
