Je Gau Pa IDP camp, located at the high mountains of northeastern Kachin State, is one of the most remote temporary shelters settled under tough and poor conditions. The camp gives shelter to two thousand displaced persons from the war-torn villages close to Maiya Jang city. The KIA positions around the city have been attacked by shelling and heavy artillery during months. Fierce clashes have taken place since the ceasefire was broken out by the Burmese army last June 2011. During months the fighting were spread out along the Kachin State leaving more than 40,000 displaced persons and refugees (a conservative estimating) in accord with the humanitarian aid groups.
