A Kachin refugee family settled in a basement of an abandoned compound in Laiza city. The compound gives shelter to two thousand displaced persons from the war-torn villages in Kachin State since the ceasefire was broken out by the Burmese army last June 2011. During months the fighting were spread out along the Kachin State leaving more than 40,000 displaced persons and refugees (a conservative estimating) in accord with the humanitarian aid groups.
