Walls tagged with anti-Assad slogans are seen through the holes made by artillery at the police post in the main street of Al Atarib. The city was flattened during months of shelling by the Syrian army, turning the city of 30,000 inhabitants into a ghost town of only 300, as the army was trying to sweep out the rebels. Today, Al Atarib belong to the FSA controlled territory, but it still being watched by the Syrian army and bombed occasionally.
